S/S Constructors Safety Program

 SAFETY MONITORING

Our project supervisors are responsible for enforcing and monitoring the Safety program with assistance from the Safety Supervisor. This is accomplished in the following manner:

Promote safe work practices among the employees through on-the-job training, tool box meetings, and our safety incentive program.

Promote first line supervisor's direct participation in the leadership of the safety, fire and property protection programs.

Provide supervision with training aids and guides, suggested programs and other educational materials.

Maintain appropriate Safety records and statistics.

Conduct regular safety inspections followed by monthly safety audits performed by Senior Management Personnel.

Investigate any accident or near miss incident to ascertain cause and develop and implement corrective measures to eliminate the possibility of recurrence.

PROJECT SAFETY PLAN

To specifically address safety and health issues which are unique to each job, we create a site specific safety and health plan. We have listed below some, but not all of the elements of our site specific Safety plan.

Compliance with all local, state, federal and owner safety and health standards and regulations.

  • Project specific safety and health rules (Safe Work Practices).
  • Crisis management plan.
  • Hazard communication program.
  • Promotion of safe working habits through the use of craft safety representatives. Representatives from each project craft that participate with supervision at regular safety committee meetings to discuss safety and health issues.
  • Investigate any accident, incident, or near miss to determine causes; develop and implement corrective action to eliminate any reoccurrence.
  • Identify all major job phases on a job schedule. Conduct hazard analysis for each phase and train employees involved in carrying out that portion of the job with safe job procedures prior to beginning work. Use of the schedule to insure that all required safety materials, such as shoring materials, fall protection equipment, etc. are on site prior to work commencement.
  • Conduct daily safety audits. We have developed our own audit checklist to help craft safety representatives carry out this process.
